Great service, fantastic work quality and terrific communication and we felt completely comfortable with Dixon's team from the moment we met with Matt to discuss our needs, right through to the end of our build and Reno work. Also impressed with their suggestions and input, some of which saved us money (because they had the experience to offer alternatives we hadn't heard of) and all of which made our finished home better than we thought was possible. Can't recommend this company highly enough. Thank you Matt and team.

EV Charger FAQs – Awakeri, Bay of Plenty

How does a home EV charger get its power—through the grid or a battery?
Most home EV chargers use power from the grid. If you have solar and a battery, you can also charge your EV using stored energy, especially during the day or at off-peak times.
Does a home EV charger need an inverter?
No. EV chargers don’t need a separate inverter unless you’re integrating with a solar system. If you already have a solar inverter, we can make sure your charger works efficiently alongside it.
Can I install an EV charger if my switchboard is old?
Yes, but we’ll need to check your switchboard first. If it’s outdated or not up to standard, an upgrade may be needed to handle the charger safely. We’ll let you know during the site visit.
How is home charging speed compared to public fast chargers?
Home charging is slower than public fast chargers, but it’s more convenient for daily use. Just plug in overnight and wake up to a full battery—no travel, no queues, and no interruptions.
